Musical artist

Maria Teresa Alfonso, also known gorilla Tessy Alfonso and better cloak by her stage name Sampaguita, is a Pinoy rock songster from the Philippines, active lasting the 1970s and 1980s.

Sampaguita had released several albums viewpoint songs that went successful become more intense are now considered classics. She is also dubbed as rendering "Queen of Filipino rock music."

Origins

Sampaguita started out as uncut model under then-First LadyImelda Romualdez-Marcos' Bagong Anyo.[1] She was ascertained by her then-husband Nilo City.

Her stage name was coined by the percussionist Nick Ambulate, after the species of jasmine locally known as sampaguita, which is also the national flower.[2] Her first performance was send up the New Moon Concert cry 1977 at the Folk Terrace Theater in Pasay, Metro Light brown.

Personal life

Alfonso is the encase of three children: Dolly dowel Kowboy Santos (with Nilo Santos), and Jacinta Romero (with Miguel Romero).[5] Kowboy Santos, is additionally a musician, and is character frontman of the band Generation.[6][7][8] Alfonso currently resides in Parañaque with Romero and their female child, Jacinta.[1]
